Every cave-in is entirely preventable. This course offers training on the specifics of soil testing, including plasticity tests, and procedures necessary for the identification of soil type found on location during trenching and shoring projects. Knowing the type of soil is imperative to preventing incidents. Topics also include statistics on the average cave-in, responsibilities of the Competent Person, hazards of vibrations on site, unconfined compressive strength, and the Olive Jar Test.
